Lawrence Methodist congregation

 

Lawrence is a small picturesque town in Central Otago,  known for its history.   Gold was first discovered here at Gabriel's Gully,  in 1861.

A small group of Methodists in Lawrence continues the tradition of 136 years.   They meet regularly and engage in worship,  work,  and witness,  caring for the needy in the community.    Services are held in the Methodist church on the first and third Sundays of the month at 11 a.m.

Groups

• The Women's Fellowship meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month.   The president is Mrs Janice Gillions.   Contact phone number is 485-9289.

• Friday School is an after-school programme for primary school children.   It has been meeting for over 35 years.   The contact phone number is 485-9523.

• Grow Group is a support group for people who have suffered mental illness.   It meets weekly on Tuesdays.   Contact Mrs Judy Rieher,  485-9175.

• The Sewing Group meets to learn,  and share ideas and talents.   Machines and overlockers are available.    Contact 485-9811.
